Former Consul General of Ecuador in Miami, Marcel D. Attorney Feraud Vivar, on Monday 18 June, at the Consulate General of Ecuador in Miami, the relevant documentation to register as an independent candidate to the Constituent Assembly, on behalf of Ecuadorians living in the United States and Canada. He was accompanied by relatives and supporters like the other members of the list of the Independent Movement Support Ecuadorian immigrants, also made by the Economist Nancy Cely Icaza, former Director of CORPEI in Miami and as a substitute by Ms. Rachel Donoso, owner of the agency business Travel Ecuatravel of Miami and Mr. Pablo Yanez Villacís, former Consul General of Ecuador in Washington DC
This nomination is widely accepted in the United States, by the renowned and lucid history of the candidates and their work in the service community, presented signatures of support which is almost twice the 1% of the standard required by the Electoral Statute.
Marcel D. Candidate Feraud Vivar, in a letter to Dr. Jorge Acosta Cisneros, Chairman of the Electoral Supreme Court, requested "for the registration of this list of candidates, so that fight fair and full exercise of democracy can participate as candidates independent of the Constituent Assembly. "
The Ecuadorian State must protect and support the Ecuadorian emigrants and their families left behind the candidate said Marcel D. Feraud, referring to Article 11, paragraph three of the current Constitution only provides that the State shall endeavor to protect Ecuadorians who are abroad.
Consulates of Ecuador should be strengthened and converted into real Migrant Support Centres of Ecuador, with staff trained in social service and community that understands the plight and needs of fellow and channel the aid.
allowing the registration turnout and full exercise of suffrage, not even to register to get 10% of the Ecuadorian community resident in the United States and Canada, should be expanded to even afford the registration by mail as the means to do no real restrictions to the right of suffrage, essential in any free and democratic society, stressed the Advocate Feraud.
Overall, this application meets the need of citizens to raise an independent voice in Ecuador today, beaten, tied and divided by political parties and a government that while captivated the electorate by promising to end the party- In the exercise of power reveals the use of media and devices that citizenship rejected and that the country needs to be removed definitively to overcome underdevelopment, social injustice and institutional chaos in Ecuador.
